Question Why so much oil in the intercooler?

Only had my STi8 I/C fitted for about a week and it has lots of oil inside.

Any suggestions as too why and how much oil is normal?

I took it off as its leaking oil where the Y piece joins onto the i/c.

mine has some oil in it on my standard P1 intercooler but not leaking to that extent just fitted a catch can to re-route crankcase fumes away from inlet. the pipe from the crankcase was quite oily. If your getting that much oil the pcv valve on yours might need cleaning. check the pipes from both crankcase and rockers to see if you can find the main cause.

Bob: this is why I added the engine breather mod. My old V3 TMIC was always wet with it.
Non in the Sti8 at the moment.
Simple mod, and cost about £10....

The oil in the TMIC will reduce the octane rating of the mixture going into the cylinders..................BANG!

Just do it.
It's all in my thread somewhere.

Graham.

Cheers....another job on the list.

Found the gasket on the samco y wasnt too good. The original STi one wouldnt fit so I cut off the samco and used that at the turbo end and the sti pipe for the rest. Hopefully it will hold.....it kept blowing off before (aside from leaking).

Think I have got the hang off fitting a STi8 i/c now.....have removed it and re-fitted it plenty of times. Blasted thing.
