Post FAO those who have fitted STi7/8 I/Cs to Classics

What undertray did you use with the intercooler?

If aftermarket where did you purchase it from?

Anybody sucessfully fitted a OE STi7/8 undertray?

I cut my V3 tray Bob to open the air to as much of the TMIC as I could, still keeping the mountings for the spray nozzles.
This is a weak solution as 25% is still masked off.

The only solution i can see is to fit an after market scoop, (Jap Innovations @£140) which is a scoop that covers the entire area of the classic facelift bonnet where the stock scoop fits.
If you cut the bonnet to match the scoop then the TMIC finpack is fully exposed to the scooped air flow.

The stock scoop will cover the butchery if you sell the car.
The Jap Inno scoop is not OTT in my opinion having seen one on a classic at Well Lane.

Unless you open the actual bonnet area any Sti8 tray is pointless other than offering a template to cut round!

Next job on the growing list...and I thought I was done.

Graham.

Graham,

The OE bonnet scoop surface area is sufficent in size as far as I can tell (have removed the undertray completely at the mo).

If you cut the original undertray how do you direct the airflow? Do you re-position the rubber flaps etc?

I'm going a ETS/DRM big scoop on mine.

Andy is mapping on weekend and this is the 'last' thing that needs doing.

I removed my rubber lip seal and added a (very) thick foam rubber seal arounf the TMIC frame. This seal is about 40mm thick and from the marks on it, it touches the underside of the bonnet so sealing the air to the matrix.

The car will be fab after the AndyF mapping trust me.

Full report expected.

Can send pics but not till tomorrow.
Will take a look now as i might have some already.

I bought the foam strip from RS, bit like a giant draft excluder strip.
Self adhesive on one side.

Cheers mate.

Doesnt look all too bad. Are you going to leave it as it is or make something more permanent?

Powerful car.....but you'll not get far without any wheels

Going to leave it for now, do the top scoop and a custom tray with 'splitter' before the warm weather comes in.

Got 407 bhp with this set-up.
Why did you not go to Well Lane for the RR? known entity and not too far.

Plans changed. Was going to visit Andy up in Scotland and have a bit of a holiday there then on the way back hit Well Lane. Turns out Andy is near my mums house on the weekend so thats why its been brought forward. And, it just so happens there is a RR day just down the road the the weekend after that.....@£20 I couldnt really refuse.
