3Bar MAP Sensor
#4
Stock 2 bar MAP sensor only allows 1.15 - 1.2 bar boost Simon, 3 bar one allows more upto ??? 2 bar ??
I think you meant 18 psi ??
Exceeding MAP sensor limits on the right ECU and being mapped for it is no problem, I found! ( 24 psi on std 2 bar MAP, well off scale acording to mapper and ECu ! ) but works and is safe!

Nice and condersending and wrong Neil.
not on a version 6 Engine Neil!! lol you are talking Pre97 car, mine tops out at 1.17bar on a 1996 car.. i have just gone beyond the map sensor and mapped around it but then I can map my own car so no problem, but not with a version 6 and a standard ecu..
The standard map sensor on that engine would allow upto 1.8bar.
The conversion from pressure to voltage would need to match the standard one the cars ecu map was designed for exactly.. if it were off slightly the ecu would call up wrong fuel and ignition and you would be risking either running too much timing or losing power depending on whcih way out it is.
You might be able to get a standard map sensor from www.hdcsubaru.com

Sorry Simon, you are right, I was meaning the pre 97 ones that I am a bit familiar with!
And I can't map the car myself either!
I agree there are some wiring chnges to fit a 3 bar map sensor, and it would need to be the same scaling for the ecu to work as desired.
I'll consider myself slapped!

Actually they got back to me today and they have the parts... Hopefully they will get back to me again. Cuz I still don't know to make international calls, plus I don't know the time difference..lol
