Default ECUTek & PPP ?

I got to thinking - I've had PPP fitted to my WRX 05 which if I understand it is an ECUtek upgrade with a generic map from prodrive ?

If this is the case is there anything to stop me going to somewhere like Powerengineering and getting it remapped, as according to their webby they can tune it up higher plus if I'm correct the map would be specific for my car.
Is this possible and would Subaru be able to tell it had been done and therefore impact my warranty ?

May be completely off beam here so apologies !

Thanks

The PPP map is a saleable item so I wouldn't recommend writing over it.
Find a WRX std ECU and use that as the base for a remap.
The local Subaru garage may not be able to do an indepth analysis of the remap in event of an engine claim, but I bet that Subaru IM would like to have a look at the map though. It would be an easy job to compare what you have on the remap against the std Prodrive map.

Ah - ok Butty, makes sense. Many Thanks..

Out of interest if I kept the rest of the PPP, ie exhaust and hose, and just replaced the ECU with a custom mapped one with no other mods, what sort of power would I see - much difference to the standard PPP 265bhp ?
Cheers

Typical figures would be 280 bhp, but AndyF has somehow got 300 bhp out of a car.
I have no idea if its robust or what other mods were needed other than the remap.

Nick

think 280bhp is with a sports cat / de cat downpipe

does the wrx ppp come with the downpipe like the STI? didn't think so

to be fair if you pay for the ppp I wouldn't bother with a ecu tek with out changing the downpipe etc and then not really worth the risk imho
