Asked a few times before, I think the only way to know for sure is to ask the chaps at Prodrive, I suspect no one else has ever gone to the trouble of tearing both apart to see what's inside... my guess is they are identical bar the tailpipe, which as I'm sure yuo know is round on the PPP.

Believe it or not!
Believe it or not!
I have a wr b/box fitted to my otherwise standard WRX 03 it produces a nice burble noise not to loud and has made the car smoother to drive (not that it was bad before.)
WOULD RECCOMEND IT !!! fittng de-cat centre section this weekend re-map planned next month.
By the way has anyone done similar mods and what are the results like?

Do a search for PPP you'll find a lot of posts, or read the EVO mag test on WRX PPP etc.

What is the make/cost of your decat centre section? What remap are you getting and where.
I thought you could run a decat without a remap but needed one if you changed your downpipe?

On a WRX you can run a full decat (including downpipe and up-pipe) without a remap, many people have done so (I did myself for a few weeks). However, you'll get more benefit from the modifications if you do have it remapped. It's on STi's you need a restrictor change or a remap if you're fitting de-cat downpipe

I find that amazing personally - buy a new car with cracker warranty, then chuck it all away in an instant!

Subaru do inspect all engine related claims under warranty.
They can allegedly tell quite a lot from the ECU - highest RPM, boost etc.
Plus you've completly ignored the point if your car develops a fault and you need it taken by Subaru Assist, they will take it to the nearest dealer and he may not be just as helpfull.
Bye bye warranty.
But having said all that, its your choice what you do with it.
