Usually you have to buy a cleaning kit.
This contains a solvent to clean off the old oil and muck and a oil spray, strangly enough dyed green
Usually clean with solvent, rinse with clean water, allow to dry naturally over night and lightly re oil filter.
Most people go well over the top with oil so be careful.

Leave it dry and wash it out more often. Dry it and reinstall as is or you'll be fitting MAF sensor after MAF sensor. MAF's don't like oil on them.
