Subaru Top Mount
Why are Impreza top mounts so small compared to other Turbocharged engines.. the GTIR and the Celica GT4 for exaple. The impreza top mounts are'nt much bigger than the interior mirror.
How effective is the front mount on the scooby??

I'm assuming you are talking about the early Imprezas - They were pretty small, but done the job on a standard car none-the-less.
Size isn't everything though Efficiency, design and location are factors to take into consideration.
A lot of people like the FMIC. However, some really powerful cars are running top mounts. e.g. Andy Forrest - 550 bhp+ with a top mount.

The Scoob IC is behind the engine with a free'ish flow from the bottom of the IC.
IIRC. The GTIR and GT4 are mounted above the engine and don't have ther dept of the scoob one.

Of course size makes a difference, but what's important is flow. FMICs on Scoobs don't have good flow (see the extra bonnet vents on the rally cars, or on an Evo, to let the air out) and Andy F has proved that a good TMIC with a big STi scoop can work very well. There's still the problem of heat-soak, though, so gassing it away from the lights can be dodgy
