Default MY98 Replacement Engine

Ok.. This thread is more for information rather than an urgent cry for help!!

Currently my car spec is as follows:

MY98
Blitz 3" Nur Spec R System
H&S 3" De-Cat Downpipe
RamAir Panel Filter
440 injectors
Walboro 255
Ported Headers

I know that the injectors are making the car run very rich, and am looking into changing back to the 380's for just now.

However, the reason for this thread is because after my last Impreza engine let go despite regular maintenance/servicing etc I would rather be prepared should my current engine in my current Impreza should go the same route.. Because I dont have Subaru Warranty to sort it all out for me this time!!

If I am forced to fork out for a new/rebuilt/replacement engine then I will be keeping the Impreza for a fair amount of time so I would like to do it properly!!!!

I would love to go for a 2.5, however, being 21.. I dont think my insurance company would love me having it quite as much as I would.

Thats why I would like to see what my options are......... Would I be able to carry my parts Turbo, Injectors etc forward if I was to fit an STi engine??

Reason I ask is that if it needs done, then I will be buying a PFC to run things so the ECU wouldnt be a problem.. What different parts would I require for an STi engine to run effectively on a UK MY98??

Is this worthwhile, or would it be easier/more sensible to get my original engine rebuilt with forged pistons. I have been offered Wiseco forged pistons to use in a rebuild, does anyone have any experience with these??

Sorry for all the questions and probably mistaken rambling.. But this is getting saved to my favorites, so please reply!!!

Cheers,
Grant
