Default Help neaded,gearbox oil.ASAP please

I am changing my gearbox oil on MY96WRX.
Can someone confirm for me if the drain plug is the bolt on the very underside of the gearbox.
Also how much oil does the box take.
Lastly does the oil have to be filled through the dipstick hole?

It takes 3.5 litres of synthetic 75w-90.

Cheers

The drain plug is the bottom one as you say, and yes, you re-fill through the dipstick hole and as Oilman says it takes 3.5 ltrs. I would beware of full synthetic in the Subaru box - it may reduce the synchro performance (personal experience and others!) May be safer to stick to semi-synthetic GL5 75/90 (eg Castrol Driveline AKA Syntrax)

Hmmm, I noticed after changing to Silkolene Syn 5 that the gearbox does feel a little notchy. I may try the semi-synth next.

Thanks for all the replys
I have now changed the oil, used castrol syntrax.
Used nearly 4 litres to get the level a couple of mm above full.
I hope i havnt put to much in.
Unfortunatly it still feels notchy going into 2nd.

gearbox volume is actually 3.8litres I believe, but recommend filling with 4litres (sligghtly above max on the dipstick) so that third gear is coated with oil better.
