Default Will i need a reprogrammable ECU???

Hi i have standard version 2 sti ra. I am planning to fit the usual headers, up + down pipes, new exhaust system, replacement air filter element and sx fuel pressure regulator.
WIll i need an reprogrammable ecu to make the engine safe to run without detonating? The car will be used for rallying and sprint events.
