Default How High Should The Biting Point Be? MY03 STI

Hi

My STI has done just over 20k and recently im sure the biting point on my clutch as moved up higher!

Its now really high, I can just push the clutch pedal a tiny bit to change gear.

Its become really jerky when pulling away..... and im sure it was never like that before.. but i have nothing to compare it too...

Anyone else found this?
Is this usual?
And finally do you think this would be under warranty?

Thanks

Mat

Mines been like it a while m8

After a few swift standing starts this happened to me
Its always juddered but it doesnt slip yet
As for warranty ... If its juddering you stand a chance but dont tell them about the bite point moving they will say its wear and tear

The biting point of your clutch can be adjusted from inside the car.

Take a look at the top of the clutch pedal and you will see a rod that goes from the pedal through the bulkhead into the engine bay.

On the rod are 2 x 6mm nuts (I think) loosen these off and then adjust the rod itself either clockwise or anti clockwise, only adjust it slowly each time as not much movement will make a difference to the biting point.

Obviously leave your engine on whilst doing it to allow you to find what way you need to turn the rod and get the correct point of bite, after you have done it tighten the 2 nuts back up and away you go, 5 minute job tops.

You are adjusting the wrong bit by the sounds of it, the rod is right up at the top of the pedal assembly, its quite difficult to reach, i know it works as i have done it on several MY01 Wrx's and STi's.

Take another look.
