Question Going FE on a phase 1 engine?

Has this been done before?

I gather the inlet manifold needs to be raised, but does that cause any problems - ie bonnet not closing?

If its been done before, what needed to be changed?

Cheers

It can be done, I've done it and so have a few other people.

Unless you are fairly clued up mechanically it is quite a serious undertaking and in hindsight I probably wouldn't have bothered, if I knew then what I know now.

There are several ways of going about it and it's not just as imple as lifting up the inlets, other things have to be moved/altered too.

If you want any pointers, drop me a mail.

Hmm, relocating the PS resevoir is a pain.

I was wondering what the gains would be, say a 300 BHP 90deg tdo5 going to FE td05. An extra - what, 10-15 BHP??

Just wondering if its worth doing..

Really don't think you gain 15bhp, from what people have seen despite the horrible looking entry you gain very little.

I didn't relocate the reservior on mine, i replaced the tank with the later style to allow the inlet pipe past. But i also change the steering rack at the same time to the later post97 item so got the hard pipes too which also are in the way slightly on the pre97(feed not return).

Tony.
