Which IC is best to convert into a charge cooler?
I have seen alot of info on here and 22b.com about using a charge cooler to lower inlet temps but need to know which one would be best.
I already have an MY98 WRX TMIC and believe that the STI classic version is the same core. Is this true?
Would there be a benifit to using an STI8 IC for the charge cooler?
The kit will comprise of a Davies Craig pump, alloy header tank in NS inner wing (hopefully) and a radiator from a Yam R6.
How do I monitor charge temp when I have it rigged up? Do I need a remap?
Any advice would be good.

Dodgy bloke that cosie convert I used the Sti5 core for that project although Sti8 would been better again (if only they made them back then )
I'd consider if if it wouldn't just be easier to use an Sti8 intercooler and fit a fan underneath it to stop heat soak, the Sti8 IC is a good bit of kit and is unlikely to limit bhp before 400 ish

Would it not give me a more consistant charge temp to use a chargecooler rather than an intercooler? I was also thinking it would just about elimate det. I dont get much, but now and again I get the 2 top amber ones on th KL lighting up after a good blast.
I was thinking of an aluminium sheild between the turbo and IC to stop heat soak but dont know if this will hinder air flow from the IC?
Does the STI8 IC have alot better flow characteristics than what I have got?

The V5 intercooler/CC I used was fine with around 350bhp, probably would have taken more but there were no better turbos available at that time to test it.
The charge temp was very stable on the C/C, didn't have to worry about it heating up in traffic as the rad fans would be on, cooling the small water rad.
