Spongy clutch?
Hi all,
I've done a search for this and am none the wiser. I know that "spongy" is a term more often associated with the brakes rather than the clutch, but I've noticed that my pedal can sometimes feel spongy after a brisk change or start. It's hard to describe, but it's as if the pedal suddenly looses its uniform feeling on uptake at around the point at which the clutch bites. No noises or other quirks. It just feels spongy and inconsistent in feel.
It doesn't appear to be slipping at all, nor are there any other symptoms apart from the usual Impreza clutch judder when cold, which soon goes after a short time.
The car is a standard (apart from the backbox) MY99 with 16K on the clock.
Any suggestions/similar experiences would be appreciated.
With thanks and best wishes,

Any suggestions, similar experiences? Is it a case of "they all do that sir" or has my clutch pedal just decided it wants to be different! :-)

Nice low mileage there... I've not experienced anything like this with my Scoob... But you could possibley try bleeding the clutch fluid system... Maybe renewal of the clutch fluid might help...???
Someone else might be able to help more, It's only an idea mate...

Hiya Scoobyslammed,
Thats a good idea, since its not doing anything else out of the ordinary, it may well be something along the lines of what you mentioned.
Thanks.
