Default Topping up oil advise needed please.

Had the car just over two weeks MY02 WRX

Just been cleaning it and checking it over and the oil is seriously low.
It is below the 'L' mark on the dipstick.

I dont know what oil is already in there.
What oil shall i use to top it up ?

I dont really want to attempt changing the oil completely, ive heard its not as straight forward as it seems.

I just want to top it up, advice on what oil to use please ?

Thanks in advance guys

Marc.

Hiya,

If there is no way of finding out what is currently in there, I'd take it along to a local specialist or dealer immediately and get the lot changed by someone who knows what they're doing, the consequences of getting it wrong are just too serious to risk messing about with.

There are tons of threads on this, but for general road use, I think many people go for Silkolene pro 10/50.

Best.

And turning and turning and turning..............

Stock road car is 5w-40 fully synthetic.

10w-40 and 10w-50 can also be used.

Cheers

Why? It's too thick for a modern road car.
