Default Too rich ratio for a bugeye

Own a bugeye with a full decat and after a poor result on the rollers today was told my car is far too rich prolly causing the poor results, AFR on the rollers is 9 to 1, should be more 11 to 1.
No faults on Select monitor apon recent check up, looking for possible causes as to why my car is just chucking bucketloads of fuel into my cyl's.

Cheers Coulty, yup as he said its a UK 2001 WRX early model with a full decat and STi panel filter. Dont notice my fuel consumption being too bad to be honest, doesnt run too bad but RR figures are terrible. Has made 252 then no where near that since most recent is 225.
Wondering if my Oxygen sensors are OK, but I would have expected to notice my fuel consumption go down (currently about 270-280 to a tank o fuel).
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

This probably doesnt help but its along the same lines. I have a 2002 WRX with de-cat and tek3 re-map. Power is increased a fair bit (RR later this month) but fuel consumption is definatly down. Averagaes around 220-230 miles per tank. Not too bad i think considering when the car was standard it only did around 250-270 per tank anyway. On of the reasons for the poor consumption of the bugeye is its weight along with a poor universal map for all cars.

you need a remap as the standard ecu probably cannot deal with decat

The standard ECU map can handle a full de-cat your problem is with a sensor possibly a MAF sensor.
My old MY01 with a TEK3 and full re-map suddenly started to use more fuel and when we tested the car on delta dash the MAF was reading incorrect but not enough for me to notice any difference.

I replaced it and all was fine again and a very healthy 292BHP on the rollers.

I've got a late 2001 bugeye, full decat, dawes and blitz sus induction, 269bhp RR and I've only ever had 240 max to a tank, fueling is nearly spot on, so whats the differnece between mine and spooks' car?

I have a MY02 with a 'few' mods (decat, FMIC, BOV, CAI etc), and get 350kms (220 miles) to a tank when doing long distances, but get 280 - 300kms (175 - 190 miles) when doing loads of short trips (my office is only 5kms away). Before the mods I got 420kms (265 miles) to a tank.
I think I'm running rather rich, as the inside of the tailpipe is a bit black, but better rich than lean given the temperatures I have.

Then again I don't really care as petrol is cheaper than water here

I suppose it all depends what everyone regards as a 'tank full' of petrol !!!!!

I refill my tank at just under the 1/4 mark on the gauge and that equates to around 45 litres (10 Gallons).

For this I get between 260 - 270 miles. Therefore 26-27 mpg.

Not bad for a non-standard (350+bhp) MY01

Cheers

Martin
