Can you do this to the old Legacy and do they have a rear LSD like the Impreza?

you could.. will need to strip the gearbox. and weld up the centre diff.. and Adjust the front diff.. possibly with a hammer and chisel.. maybe a grinder too.. or butcher some drive shafts with a 9" grinder.

Or just put a Cossie box on the back of the boxer....
No idea if the Legacy rear diff could cope.

I had a rear wheel drive Scoob for a while after my front diff failed, The rear diff struggled with all the power going through it. I felt like the back wheels tramped, The cornering balances felt all wrong also, Great fun when boost kicks in though on a damp roundabout

Not easy and no point.
A rear wheel drive Impreza = Cossie?

Fair enough, just fancied turning up to the D1 events & autocar sideways challenge in a nasty looking old legacy estate!! It would be a little unexpected. Will be sticking with the boring original idea of a 200 sx now though.
