When car is in 3rd gear and i take my foot off the accelerator the gear stick has some movement in it ,is this somehting to worry about ?

 

No, its the whole engine and transmission moving due to lifting off

I went in past my local dealer to booker her in for a timing belt change and asked if the gear stick movement was anything to worry about and he said
it was nothing to be concerned about .

I think that it is reading about other peoples gear box troubles that has worried me .
