Default Gearbox

I have some info which I will chase up later for you, gear ratios could be different but it is crucial the internal front diff. ratio matches the one in the box you have broken. Stick it in first and try and count how many times the front drive shaft rotates.
Do the above with the gearbox out of car rotate inputshaft by hand and make sure the donor box rotates the same amount.

As for as I understand the VB3AA came on the MY93 Impreza and is a std box with a 4.111 final drive ratio. The VB3CA is from a Model Year 94 WRX or STi WRX. All the intermals should be the same but you never know if the Subaru Fairy has been inside and changed pieces. Only way to be certain is to strip them down and have a look.Final drive ratios should be the same.

I found this info on www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html

I cannot say if it is 100% correct but was for my Type RA

Good Luck

Andrew

Price is fantastic. The box will fit, no problem. Worst that you will find is that the replacement box has lower (shorter) ratios.
Important to check diff ratios are the same front and rear. Split the replacement box and do the same for the original. Both crown wheels and pinions need to be the same. From memory it will be 40 and 9 for the 4.44 or 37 and 9 for 4.11 which are the most likely ratios although there were 3.9s later in UK cars.

Thanks for the link, i am just going to get the box because it is cheap and if it is not the right one i will just sell it on, following the links informaton the ratios should be the same so i will just put it in and see what happens,
