Knocklink going berserk!!!!!
Yesterday I noticed that when I started the car (MY95) it sounded really clunky on tickover, sort of like tick...tick...tick...tick...tick with every turn of the crank. I went to drive it & the Lambda was fine, showing that the fueling was okay but the knocklink just kept going straight to red when the revs started to rise. If I held it at zero boost & let the revs rise it could sometimes just stay red & not drop but if I used the turbo & gave it some beans it would be fine until I changed gear & it would instantly go red until I booted it again.
The engine internals are standard & the only problem I had was back in June where the crank pulley for the power steering sheered & broke. I took it to subaru where they inspected the crank & said it was fine. The invoice for their work said:
Sprocket-Crankshaft Impreza x 1
Woodruff Key-5 x 6.5 x 16 02 x 1
Oilseal x 1
& Labour
I also replaced the pulleys with Graham Goode alloy ones as mine were knackered.
I don't know what is going on with the noise of my engine, the knocking i'm getting or whether it has anything to do with the work subaru did on 25th June but i'm kinda afraid to drive it at the mo, just in case.
Anyone got any ideas or would it be well worth taking it to Power Engineering or somewhere for a full diagnostic check?
Thanks

Yours is the green one isn't it that turns up to West sussex meets every now and then if I remember rightly
I would take it to Graham at GDA. Your side of Tun Wells, so a trip though E Grinstead. Will give you a no nonsense expert diagnosis.
His phone no is - 01892740006 07785110650
