Advice please

i'm looking at buying a low mileage Impreza P1 within the next month or two. And i know it has blisteringly fast pace and amazing handling but i have been told that you cannot really increase their performance other than adding a stainless exhaust system and uprated air filter, otherwsie they become extremely un-reliable. Is this the case or can they have bigger performance upgrades, ie, like fitting an electronic boost controller and upping the boost a little ? or what else can you do to them and which are the best companies to go to ?

whose been telling you that rubbish lol..

run it on Optimax or Super Unleaded as a minimum.

It can be remapped to increased boost and move power etc..
