Unhappy Help, strange turbo noice at certain boost-levels

I have had my car (Impreza STi -2003 Euro-spec) ECUTEK'ed(custom map)
I started with just the backbox and then a race-cat instead of the OEM 2'nd cat-pipe and all was working very good.

But I needed to rid a bit of the lag by replacing the OEM DP with
a Bastuk-decat downpipe(openneck looks a bit like scoobysport's).

I had the mod done by my tuner but on the fairly long drive back from my tuner(250km) I suddenly
hit overboost in 6th gear at WOT and fuel-cut hits(just passing, not maxing the thing out)
+ The cel-light came up...

I also noticed a strange noice(not the normal turbo whining) from
the turbo at certain rpms it comes around 3500-4000 and then disappears.
It is kind of a high pich squeekish noice.

I read the error code when I got back home and it was:
P0244 -Wastegate control solenoid valve malfunction (high input)

I have not been able to get a hold of my tuner yet so I thought it would be
good to see if somebody has had a simular experience or maybe someone knows anything about the CEL-code.
Has my turbo gone?

Could the disappearance of the noice(no normal turbo whine) from the turbo be due to that the boost
is mapped to trail off at higher rpms?

Sounds like it needs remapping, it shouldn't do that!

There as a problem with new age scoobies when de-catted that needed a fix for the CEL / no cat warning, but not that hit fuel cut!

If the ECUTEK was the last mod take it back and insist on it being done properly, at no expense, and see if you can claim the expenses for the need to return / fuel etc. If you have changed bits since the custom remap, it will need remapping again by the sounds of it, ( Your expense as you changed bits! ) as the gas flows have changed with the better downpipe etc.

Not sure about the turbo noise, but if the turbo stalled too much or tried too hard to compress the gasses it may have damaged a bearing? You would need it looking at by turbo experts really if that was the case.

Any good Scooby companies near you?
