Default Mapable Boost controll, Got options - Which one???

Hello All

I will in the next few days be getting my car from API after an engine replacement. They are also porting headers and baffling the sump and fitting a scoobysport centre & rear section

Spec will be:

93 WRX
STI V9 BLOCK Inc Pistons/crank.
HKS FMIC
HKS FCD
HKS Air Intake
VF34 Turbo (new)
Z4 ECU with Uni-chip
3" HKS downpipe
Scoobysport 2.5" centre and rear silencer
Uprated Walbro Fuel Pump
4pots, drilled & grooved.
Knocklink!!!

After the running in period 1500miles I will be taking it to be mapped (uni-chip) and have a Fuel pressure reg fitted.

I am currently running a dawes at 1.1bar as old EBC went wonky. So I am looking at getting an EBC fitted which can be mapped so I can run 1.4 bar til 5K then tailing of to 1.1 bar at redline (or whatever the mapper suggests when mapping)

I was looking at an Apexi AVC-R boost controller (£300ish) as I would like to be able to run 2 boost settings low/high and apparently this can map boost to RPM.
What I have been told by one place is that these really can't control boost very well under mapping and run in 2D so under part throttle it will overboost... Any opinions on this??????

They suggested a Gems to control boost and with FPR and Unichip remap would be £650.00

Another place suggested a Uni-chip boost controller, FPR and Unichip remap fo £450.00

The place that said Apexi are rubbish also said the Uni-chip boost controller works in 2D too so doesn't control boost very well too....

What I would loose with going Gems/Unichip route would be the ability to run low/high boost settings..

I am now quite confused by whole affair, I get diffo opinions every place I phone...

I have to make a decision very soon as most places have 3-4 week lead time
and I will get 1500 miles on car pretty quickly..

Please Help

Rob
