Wink Cleaning a TMIC, what a surprise!

Just a bit of info really, While putting the engine back in my Sti v3 thought i would wash out the TMIC with petrol.
Filled it, left it and drain it; very dirty/oily mix came out, very surprised at the level of oil in there.
Is that worth another billion bhp ?

I'd swap to a front mount if you're after another billion BHP

911 e-mail me about your engine, and how it is after a visit to API

What a good idea !! Need a job? We can claim hp increases because we have an expert intercooler flusher-outer. It will be worth something in power terms because you won't be running on 2 stroke any more. LOL.

Running yet ??

I used to flush mine every month or 2 before fitting the catch can; this was before monitoring TB temps....but a thin oily coating isn't doing anything for your i/c's heattransfer capabilities.

More critical (IMHO), is making sure the vapour being recirculated back into the intake system doesn't contain octane lowering oil from the breathers. Fit a catch can

Trust a smart **** answer from David.
Engine in, that bracket was perfect, engine now running super smooth.
Maybe it was on 2 stroke before?
Going to run it tonight for a tank full and then see if the bubbles appear.....
Got some NF Race, and have removed the A/C off the engine to allow more free air to the Rad.
I now have space for a catch can, I think there's a thread on here now about it?

Wish me luck for tonight!

Just back from a blast in the car.
Forgotten how quick the Sti is.....
Warmed it up David, filled with Optimax/NF and drove it like i stole it.
About 5 miles of hard blasting, and all is dry! not a drop of coolant anywhere, and the temp guage at 1/2 level where it used to be.
Even tick-over and all that.
Will really be 100% when I'm through the next Hill climb in early August, but all looks well.
Thanks for a great job David! (don't know how to put a smile on here, but there is one!)
