After fitting many parts including an TD05FE to MY97 i'm now looking at a remap and my local Subaru specialist has mentioned he could get a motec m48 Pro (i think) direct from his uncle (who owns a garage in Australia) and save a shed load of cash.

i'd have to get it fitted and remapped here, probably by Bob R.

Any ideas of the pro's and con's of this approach?

non really depends on price etc. there are motec dealers in the uk who are flexible on prices etc.. there are other experienced mappers in the uk other than bob that can do motec.. ie Pat, AndyF, Pavlo.. etc.

Check which motec it is. and ensure you have the serial numbers for the options purchased

Be sure to look at the true cost of the m48pro as certain features of this ecu are not enabled and you are looking at a few more dollars to enable them eg wide band, logging, but all said and done the exchange rate can help.I have an m48pro with all the options and i find it is great the logging is very useful for tunning etc, but your mapper is the key to this.
