B & M Short Shifts - Has anyone ever had any probs?
Had the short shift on for some time now (certainly 18 months). Initially it felt like it had smoothed up the gear changes and I was happy for a while.
Over the last 6 months I've noticed that the gear box feels a little clunky. Can struggle to find 1st or reverse when trying to engae for the first time. 1st into second can grate a bit.....you get the picture. Now I know a lot of people have similar problems and the garages that have a had a look at it seem to think its ok but they tend to test when warm when its less prominent. Recent power upgrades have forced me to an AP clutch but this didn't improve it that much.
At Sundays Well Lane run, the guy commented on how stiff the gear change felt an thought the short shift was the main culprit rather than it being more serious. As anyone gone back to a standard linkage and found an improvement from this set up?
Thanks in advance.
Rob

I have had my B&M shifter on my wrx for about 12 months now with no problems.
The only problem i had was fitting it. Ended up having to change all the bottom linkage, as the shifter wouldn`t fit into the boss.

I HAVE A B+M ON A 00MY NOT HAD ANY PROBS YET THE ONLY OTHER THING WORTH TRYING IS CHANGE THE GEARBOX OIL (IT MAY BE TO THICK AND DRAGGING THE CHANGES WHEN COLD ) WHEN WARMED UP THE OIL IS THINNER AND ALLOWS A QUICKER SMOOTHER CHANGE

Cheers guys
I have changed the oil in the past to the synthetic stuff. Think I might have to have a closer inspection this weekend when I have a spare ten minutes. Its bugged me that much this week that I've started bringing th g/f Saxo in to work.!!!!
