ADVICE ON INDUCTION AIR FILTERS PLEASE
Im considering an induction air filter for my car ( jdm sti 8 ). Ive heard that many stories about perfomance figures being down , less torque etc.
Im getting my car remaped by wallace performance in August . Would the filter work better with the remap or should i just stay standard.
Ive always liked the sound of the filters and quite fancy one.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would personally stay clear of a standard induction air filter. Reason why, the scoob Cold air intake is pretty good. A wee test, lift your bonnet after a good blast and touch all the engine components, and you'll find they are bloody boiling. So imagine the heat that will be entering the cone of your filter. Had an induction kit on my CTR, and in warm weather lower end acceleration was pretty poor due to the heat soak. Only thing i would suggest if you really want an induction kit is to do a bit of cutting and adjustment and locate it away from the engine(like inner wing). That will give you cooler air/more power.
Your best bet would be what most scoob owners have done and just fit a panel filter, ie KN which Brian is selling, or Green, JW racing(what i have). Best to fit prior to the remap, espically if its the induction kit.
Hope this helps mate, good luck with the remap.
