Que Saxo Boy.....

Yes. Well on classics it was always my understanding that this could happen when driven hard if there was less than about 1/4 of a tank. A lot of people thought this was rubbish. But it was a not well known design fault.
It is rare as it has never happened to anyone I know

I stand to be corrected

LMAO Actually I've had this a few times but mainly when your on WOT thru the twisties or on track. You get below half a tank and it just happens. not all the time just sometimes which is even more annoying

MY03PPP and the problem still arises. The only option is to fit an uprated fuel pump...more expense

Can realy ( or is it really?) understand your frustration. As you think they might have got this sorted out by now given that it has always been a problem
Cheers

Default Fuel surge

Can't see how changing the fuel pump will work. You need a swirl pot/surge tank with a 2nd pump.
I'm trying to sort this for my sprint impreza.

Or just run with a full tank of fuel

I used to get this on my 02STi after I had a PE Sports Cat exhaust system, uprated fuel pump and Ecutek remap done. It was caused by the fuel pump being fitted with a fuel filter for an EvoVII (about the size of a teabag), which is much shorter than the one for an STi. Since the correct filter has been installed I have had no problems.

I would check that the correct fuel filter has been installed.
