Talking

Poss syncro but have heard many people with the same problem

If you have booted it for quite some time the oil can get hot and gloopy giving problems. Mate's Cat 7 had probs in nearly all gears after run on the track.

Suggest changing gearbox oil first and try it out then

Oh, edited to say do a search in drivetrain many posts including some from me, not reverse but third to fourth. New oil and sweet no probs

My 2003 WRX is the same. I double d' clutch to get reverse gear, even from cold.

What ever you do dont force it into reverse. If you select 3rd first then reverse it usually slots in fine. Try it.

wez_sti maybe if you had posted in the correct forum in the first place and remained patient, you would have got an answer eventually...

Drivetrain
Engine, exhausts, gearbox, diffs, air filters etc

Please use Technical Forums for tech help
