Default Cast or Forged Pistons

Hi everyone!,

I read at Nasioc that none of the versions (JDM, USDM, Eurospec) of the New Age Impreza STI comes with forged pistons, is this true?. I read in other forums that only the USDM comes with cast pistons. I´m asking this in scooby net because I know that most of the memebers own Eurospec STi´s and might know the answer to this. I live in Guatemala City and here we get both the Eurospec and USDM version of the STI, mine is the Eurospec and I want to know if it haves forged pistons. Thanks a lot

Greetings from the UK,

The JDM STi Version 7's that we have in are forged piston type. But we have a 2004 STi 9? engine supplied from APi Japan as components and these pistons are cast, is it ' Eutectic ' they call it. Nothing special about them at all from the looks, of course if you had the alloy analysed, then it may be another matter. Both above are Teflon coated of course.

Can't speak for STi type UK not seen one in bits yet.

Any help?

STi Version 7's & 8's in the EU use the same Eutectic pistons, not cast and not forged either but supposedly the material has a large resistance against expanding with heat like a forged piston.
