sat waiting outside my girls house and i heard this loud rattling noise coming from front end of my motor. looked under but couldnt see anything visibly out of place of that.

as i drove down the road, 5th gear keeps jumping out of place.

whats wrong?

 

Sounds like 5th gear synchro has had it. Quite expensive to get fixed from a labour point of view, the parts are relatively cheap.

where is best to get the parts?

 

If your car is a UK model, get the parts from a dealer otherwise shop around the likes of Graham Goode etc. Not sure exactly what the noise is, its impossible to tell without hearing it.

just back from my mechanics mate, as soon as he heard it he agreed its fcuked. 5th has gone and he said the rest norm wont be far behind.

so now i have to source a gearbox for a 1993 WRX STI

doh!!
