Unhappy Turbo Blues

During a long run on the motorway last weekend my car suddenly lost power and plumes of blue smoke came from the exhaust. I pulled over and on inspection found a large amount of oil had been lost and some oil was under the car.

Had the AA tow me home

With the car home I removed the intercooller which was full of oil. I then filled the engine back up with oil and started ( Minus the intercooler). Oil was was visably coming from the turbo.

Still not confident I just had a turbo problem I removed the turbo, blocked all oil feeds and ran the engine briefly. No oil was visably coming from the uppipe though a lot of smoke (hopefully just the excess Oil buring).

On inspection of the turbo there is no visible problem I.e Turbines apear to spin fine. I am in hope that it is simply the oil seals in the turbo which need replacing.

Is there any turbo repairers that you would recommend and how much it could cost? Or any other methods of checking it is the turbo damadged and not the engine?

The car is a 2000 Sti 6 type R Fitted with an IHI VF28 Turbo.

Any help would be most apprieciated!
