Five months of problems - any ideas??
Calling all technical gurus!!
Have been having problems with overboosting/fuel cut for around five months now. Symptoms are - 3rd, 4th and 5th gears at around 1 bar of boost, car just lurches, builds up again and repeats. So far I have replaced the boost solenoid and restrictor, checked all pipe work (replaced one with a slight split) and replaced the wastegate actuator (which was leaking, able to suck and blow through it!!) but still the problem persists. Have checked the air filter, is still very clean. I (and many others!!) just cannot figure it out. Begining to think it may be a "breathing" problem rather than a turbo problem, or possibly a fuelling problem.
the car is a 1995 JDM WRX wagon, standard apart from a full de-cat zorst. Any body got any advice or bright ideas?? PLEASE... am at the end of my tether!!
Thanks all in advance

If you are still running with the original ECU then the listed boost for 94 - 96 My is 550 mmHG = 10.63 psi .7 bar so at 1 bar you will hit the over boost level and thus violent fuel cut !

Spot on !
It will be the ECU 'lost'.
Had this on my Sti v3, fitted a Blitz boost controller, perfect for 2 years, Optimax, no booster, no fuel cut, but cost £800 fitted.....
Get a secondhand ecu from Grade A.
