Question Intercooler fin damage

I have noticed that a lot of the Intercooler fins have become bent on my MY99 turbo probably due to objects passing through the bonnet duct. The fins seem to be very very fragile. I know that damage to this will restrict the air flow through it so should I look at replacing it?. If so where can I buy one?
are they easy to fit?
I've seen an Intercooler Shield for sale also: http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/su...cts/engine.htm (bottom of the page) Does anyone have one of these? are they any good?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Jman.

I had one of them fitted but was advised to take it off as it restricts airflow. Also affected i/c waterspray
Just get a flat blade screwdriver and bend your fins back in place

oh the joys of a breaking back leaning over your car for ages straightening your fins, i use a scalpel blade on mine, a bit thinner and i find easier to get between any flattened fins.

******* boring, but well worth it apparently

Cocktail stick is my weapon of choice.

It's easier when you remove the intercooler from the car as well.

To get the best results, remove it , straighten all of the fins, including the ones underneath ( you'd be surprised ), and then run water from a hosepipe through the fins from beneath. Do this so that the water runs into a bucket after passing through the fins.....I'm always surprised by all the crap that doing this seems to dislodge.
