Default Overtightend OEM BOV on I/C, any suggestions ?

Hi all,

I accidently overtightened one of the bolts that attaches the BOV to the I/C. Any ideas on what I can do to get it to tighten where it doesn't just keep turning and turning ?

I assume that with the one bolt being loose when the car is under boost it may force a little air outta of there and may lose a little boost ?

Cheers,
Ray

Jeesh. You could fit a larger bolt, drilling out the dumpvalve and retapping the hole in the I/C, or carry out a similar technique on the I/C to fit a helicoil type device.

Could also try filling the hole with a metal-loaded epoxy and retapping it, although no guarantees that way on how much strength the repaired threads will have.

Maybe. If the joint is broken there could also be air leaking into the intercooler off-boost.

Thanks Greese Monkey.

I may just go the slightly larger bolt route as the I/C is a soft metal and should thread again nicely imho

Cheers,
