Question Gearlever - Spring back to the middle?

Test drove a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo over the weekend and had a problem with the gearlever not springing back to the middle and either staying on the left hand or right hand side after changing gear. Making it very easy to miss gears.

Is it just a spring that needs replacing or something more major?

Cheers,
Ant

it's probably just a spring (or maybe two) that needs changing, but you'd have to find out how it's done on the Fiat gearbox. On a Subaru 'box removing the detent involves taking the transfer case off the box, so it's a bit of a job. I know **** all about the mechanicals of Fiats, so unless someone pipes in with some specific info here, suggest you ask at your local dealer how much this would cost to fix before offering to buy the car.
