Default lambda sensor

i have bought a lucas universal 3 wire lambda sensor for a 1998 uk turbo.it has a black wire and 2 white wires, the same as on the cars connector loom, but what i wanted to know is,do each one of the white wires on the lambda sensor correspond to a particular white wire on the cars connector loom,or does it not matter ?

also would i need to reset the ecu after fitting of the new sensor

As far as I know, it does not matter which way the white ones are connected. It should say in the instuctions with the sensor.
