Default Performance improvement

Please can i get some help here.

I am a little confused with all the options open to me with a wrx03 .

I have been considering the following

PPP 1600UKP
Prodrive Spring set 250UKP + 380 Fitting
Strut Braces 180 UKP

total 2410 UKP for the lot

This would get me to around 5 secs 0-60 and will also have good handling. the warranty would still be valid as well

to get sub 5 secs is 4 to 4.5 would need a hugs investment.

is there anyone out here that coould advise me different.

Question
Do the after market dump valves make that much difference
does a cold induction do a lot
do decat exhaust make that much difference
does moving the Intercooler make that much difference
does ecutek ECU remap make that much difference

the cost of these from what i have sen would be more than above and would it make a huge difference on 0-60.

Please advise Help

Yes, the majority of the aftermarket dumpvalves you're likely to be considering introduce air measurement errors which make the engine run worse, not better. The best dumpvalve for your car is the one it comes with as stnadard.

does a cold induction do a lot
No. Your car already takes cold air direct from the upper intake. Fitting an aftermarket panel filter makes a subtle difference, but many induction kits can cause more problems than they solve and are thus largely a waste of money in your position.

do decat exhaust make that much difference
Quite a bit, both in terms of figures on paper and feeling under your foot. Fitting a non-standard exhaust technically invalidates your warranty however.

does moving the Intercooler make that much difference
Not really in the situation you're in at the moment.

does ecutek ECU remap make that much difference
Can get you a bit more power than the PPP will, depending on where you go to get one, but again you're looking at warranty invalidation.

Why are you so preoccupied by the 0-60mph performance? It means little with regard to the real-world performance and driveability of the car.

Default Advice Greasemonkey

Thanks for the brief over view by item.

I fully agree that the 0-60 is not that important and the handling and general drivibilty of the car is more important.

I went for the WRX beacuse the ride was not as harsh as the STI and messing around with 6 gears did not appeal to me. However the low end rev, response is a little flat and i beleive that an increase of torque would help here.

BUT again its how much spend and what to go for.

I am still steered to the PPP as this should help here. OR NOT

please advise.

I thought you could get the prodrive springs supplied and fitted with geometry done all for 380? Not just for fitting?

I have all them fitted to my car...

PPP 1600UKP
Prodrive Spring set 250UKP + 380 Fitting
Strut Braces 180 UKP

The PPP pack is worth the money in my opinion mainly because you keep the warranty.
Spring Kit I've just had fitted ,but from what I've heard its worth the money as it improved the handling the dealer told me its the best £400 you'll spend on the car.
Strut Braise just fitted one today ,but I didn't pay £180 have a look at Scoobyworld they do a very nice one for £79.99 inc VAT cheaper if your a member of the SIDC.

You also get money off the Springs and fitting if your a SIDC member

If you want any more info e-mail me.

The PPP will give you a very useful boost over the standard car's performance while, importantly, keeping your warranty intact.

At end of day whether it fits your needs depends largely on what your long-term plans for the car are. If you want to keep it for a while, modify it heavily and don't care about invalidating the warranty, you may be better off looking at third party alternatives.

If you want to preserve the warranty and eventually sell the car through the dealer chain, the PPP is the best (and indeed only) option to consider.

assuming the car is fairly new, it will loosen up an awful lot in the next few thousand miles. furthermore, not sure whether you're used to turbocharged cars, but they can feel flat low end matey
