Default bottom end

hi all,
just had my car up to well lane turbo centre and had the engine diagnosed as bottom end is going. anybody know where i can get this sorted and for how much? or is it possible to just replace the engine?
totally gutted, all help appreciated.

depends where you are, possible scoobyclinic or Subaru Service Centre (sheffield)

Depends on MY.

Rough Guide !!

A short motor is about 1.5k plus gaskets and labour. I would say your looking at 2.5k.

Sorry to hear about that

From my experience of other cars, I think it might be cheaper to source a second hand engine from somewhere, than get the work done.

Think about the amount of work it is - in labour alone (although you probably don't want to ) , & I think the engine swap's the better option. Painful either way, but there's lots of people on here who've done that.

To put it into perspective, my Landy's top end was knackered, & all top end stuff, & 2 pistons replaced - did the work with engine still in, & that was ~890 quid. I could have sourced another good engine, & fitted for about £500 (didn't think of it at the time)..

cheers all, got in touch with scoobyclinic and they seemed alright. just got to find money now, getting married in july so i think it could not have come at a worse time. anybody know how much a second engine would be and to have it replaced?

how do you mean bottom end going..??? i was under the impression there is not much progression it just lets go and sounds very distinct...!! loud knocking..

it is a really loud knocking, but what i cant understand is that it has been diong it for a while but still seemed to be running fine!
CEL. sent that fella email. waiting on reply, cheers for that.

just had someone else look at the car and they said that the knocking could be the shells as it is only knocking at 3 thousand revs.
any ideas anybody?
