Unplug or limit the speed signal to the ECU - leave it connected to the speedo.
Downsides? ECU probably uses speed in its control (eg for the rad fan) and load computations.

That annoying noise compliance program when you hold the speed steady at about 30 mph for a few seconds and then floor it - it runs half boost - on 99/00 anyway. Frustrating when using ECU boost control.
If it doesn't know the speed it can't cut the boost
It can adjust maximum duty cycle by rate of change of engine speed giving a form of gear judge.
There is a speed sensor error code (33) but mine doesn't seem to mind the speed sensor unplugged and doesn't report an error. Maybe it would after an interval.

Which suggests you're using factory boost control again? I run an AVC-R to avoid this problem on track. I would like to use the spare maps to drive WI if I could get around the issue reliably (wouldn't like to lose 50% of WI suddenly ), or switch back (with 3 port, the control was pretty good).
