Question Adjusting HKS S-SQV

Hi all

I have a slight problem with my HKS SQV. After changing my TD04 for a TD05 on my 99 Impreza GT the sound has changed alot on my dump valve. Before when ever I lifted the throttle it would give the usual sound (pfsssssttt), but now when I lift the throttle with part throttle it's kind of wobling, not one tone, more choking on it (pfsss-pfsss-pfsss).

Don't know if the explenation makes any sense ;-)

Is there any way of getting it back to where it was? Do I need to turn the adjustment nut in or out?

Thanks in advance

Rasmus

Hello M8

Same thing has happened to my SSQV since turbo change... Vf28 to VF34

Instead of a whoosh or shoosh to say... it goes shoosh, shoosh, shoosh,shoosh,...shoosh.... Getting lower in volume towards the end!!

Didn't know you could adjust them!

Anyone know what to to ?

Just got home from trying to fix it. I have turned the adjustment bolt at the end of the SQV 5 turn out and it seems to be working.

Does anybody have an explenation on what the bolt controls?

Kindest regards

It adjusts the spring pressure of the primary piston, that way screwing it all the way in makes it run more like a single piston dv wheras all the way out it runs like a light sprung dv on part throttle and a heavy sprung one on boost.

Very clever thing really, but you do need a decent size turbo and a bit of boost to notice the difference the screw makes, not much at all on the TD04.

Personally I like it when it flutters, coolest dv sound going.
