Default Remap on a V4 Type R

Hi I have a 98 V4 type R and am looking to have it remaped to run on Optimax but as I understand the V4 ecu can't be remaped, so what options do I have and where's the best place to go?

I also have a slight problem with the car at the moment being that after I have drove it then stop and then let the engine cool and then go back to start it the engine idels all over the place, up to 1200 then dropping down to around 200, it does this about 5 or 6 times and then idels fine at around 850. About 2 months ago I had a new maf fitted, has this gone again because at around £250 a go there not cheap.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it not possible to purchase just the MAF sensor? Should cost around £70.

This is common practice for MY99/00 cars. MAFs very fragile on these, but sensor gets replaced, not housing etc.

Not suggesting that it IS the MAF, btw. How did you know it was the MAF last time around? Have you tried starting it with the MAF disconnected? If the engine still idles erratically it might not be the MAF.

Oh, and check out the GEMS group buy if you're after a remap.

I was talking to Kev at The Clinic and he said that the only way was a new ECU. They use Pat to do there mapping, so surely he would have told them???
