Unhappy I think I may have developed the dreaded piston slap

I only occasionally get the chance to drive my car these day and having not driven it for a few weeks I decided to turn it over and let it run for a while. I popped the bonnet to check the oil before starting while the bonnet was still up I turned the car over. I then became aware of a knocking sound coming from the engine bay, a noise I hadn’t noticed before. As the car warmed up the noise seemed to get quieter but was still noticeable. I probably haven’t noticed it before because I was always in the vehicle when starting. I also thought pre 1999 cars were susceptible to piston slap not 2000 cars.

If anybody has any experience of piston slap any advice would be grateful.

I know there was a mp3 knocking on here a while ago.

Ian
