Unhappy Help???? Urgent...;-( knocking noise

team... need a bit of help...
MY03 Sti

had a knocking sound from the NS rear of the car thought it was a can that I had in the wheel well... had it a couple of days...
Goin on a blast around a track in the morning, so cleaned out the boot... no can...
got my daughter to stick her head through into the boot and its coming from the rear strut.. sonds as if the struts loose...
if i push the back up and down i can only hear it faintly and can't pin it down cos sus is too hard...
I can't find how to get into the damn stut top to see if its moving.. anyone know how to get to the top of the sus mounting point... I can't believe the things come loose... how the hell would that happen

Just outside now trying to get to the bloody thing! aaaaahhhrrrrr

Default Knocking noise from rear

Hi
Dazza's-sti

Access to top mounts is via rear seats you have to remove the seat base and seat back, if your going to do this its worth checking the bolts on the frame work under the seat as these can create a knocking noise if not really tight.

Regards
Steve

Dazza - get it back to the dealer and ask them to fit the modified bugeye sti topmount fix to it, there was a 9 page thread about this about 3 months ago and so far a 'handfull' of new shape sti's have had the same fault!, i have waited till tomorrow to get it done with the 1st year service! (also hoping prodrive suspension will help ) It will only get worse if u leave it as mine is now louder than the stereo!

Good luck with the fix.

Mines been done 3 times now. Each time the fix works for around a day or so, and then the damn knocking noise starts again. Mine was fixed on Tuesday, but is now knocking again.

Back on to the phone to the dealer tomorrow to complain. Clearly what they are replacing/fixing just does not hold itself in position.

Shall I now insist on new suspension for the back, or will that not make any difference ?

I had a long chat with danny at holdcroft widnes (north west) and he has solved the problem with the ones he has had in. As knowledge of the cars goes there are very few people who know more about these cars in my oppinion! will tell you tomorrow if it can be fixed properly after he applies the fix.

Oh and i have already had a new strut once already and this one is worse than the first!
