Why change the manifold John - you going F/E with the TD05? if so, manifold spacers may be a better idea.

email me and I'll see if I can help.

yes it will fit, throttle cable needs changing as the outer neeeds to be shortened. I have successfully cut the cable just behind the nipple at pedal, shortened outer, then made good with solderless nipple.

Throttle body is shorter so you will need longer hose joiner or moved piping, FMIC stuff usually flexible enough to cope.

Pre97 water cross pipe is slightly different, and may restrict access for inlet pipe, need to fit to manifold first.

There is no idle switch, and the TPS needs rewiring, this is the biggest thing to overcome. I have done it successfully in past with microswitch, but am doing next one with electronic trigger from TPS for idle switch.

other than this it all pretty much bolts on.

I've got the manifold, got the f/e turbo, dump valve, and the intercooler. and a few other bits

I think it would be better to do it this way than mess about with chopping intercoolers and throttle bodys as I want to change to the STi intercooler, and I've got to change the turbo as mine is on the way out.

Thanks for the pointers. Can you give me any more information on this Pavlo (Please)? If this doesn't have the idle switch, do I need it if I'm using a Power FC which is for the STi?

Would it be easier to replace the cable?

Can the water cross pipe be replaced with the post 97 one? - I'm assuming you're talking about the big piece that fits on top of the block,

I can get most of the parts easily, and would appreciate any advice I get

Sorry about all the questions, but I would hope not to end up tearing my hair out trying to get it to work.

if you have the PowerFC yuu may not need the idel switch, and you will just have to put on the newer shape connector. I have the connections somewhere will try and dig out, but a voltmeter can be used to figure it.

I've just had a visit from my STi friend and have sussed it all out now

Not having had too much time looking under other peoples bonnets, I've stuggled to marry up everything.

Just some advice from somebody please - Give me a good reason to plumb in the water pipes to the turbo. I'm running a TD04 until I get my TD05 back and the water plumbing is different so I want to bypass it temporarily Everyone happy that this is ok?

yeah, it will be ok to run without the water pipes, i know of rally cars that have been running without the water pipes on.

i think you would be wise to re-connect them when you refit the TD05 though.

I spoke to Andy at ATM Sport and told me much the same. I will reconnect them when I re-fit the TD05

Thanks

Finally done it! - What a performance!

After buggering about a bit I've managed to get up and running.

Here are some tips to anyone else thinking of doing it:

1. Fuel Lines might as well be removed as they don't fit - I took opportunity to do parallel feed mod.
2. Make sure you get all the hoses from the STi manifold - I had to make a few hose adjustments to get it right.
3. Make sure your dump valve fitting kit matches the intercooler - I would have put money on it being the one which just bolts on - DOH!
4. Get the STi wiring loom for it too - it'll make life much easier.
5. Don't forget the Accelerator cable is different - longer internally.
6. Easier to get a STi power steering reservoir.
7. The power FC does work without the idle switch being present
8. Make sure you don't try and do it on a weekend, when half the shops are shut.
9. Save all the info you need and print it out if necessary as scoobynet may be down
