Strange idle speed after a blast (link ECU)
Hi all
I've just had a blast with my '99 Impreza turbo and when the car came to a standstill it was idling at 2000 revs. I let the car idle for a minute and turned off the engine. I then started the car again and idle was at ~ 1000rpm. The car has recently been mapped with a link ECU. Any ideas please?
Thanks
Sonu

This is a quote from Bob himself after i had the same problem. Mine started idling at around 2000rpm after starting the car up cold and switching it back off when it was trying to find a steady idle.
Like yourself a quick turn off and on cured it.
Andrew hows the intercooler doing?

Its a lot more simple than that, there are several settings that relate to idle, one of those is a vac setting below which the ecu will not control idle, idle also does not start to control til below 1300 rpm and 13 throttle setting (base is 10) so in moving the car and switching off and on the ecu opened the stepper motor twice for cold start, that set the idle outside the 1300 rpm limit and above the vac limit so it simply decided not to control, having warmed itself up a bit turning off then on caused the ecu to reset, as it now idled initially below the limit idle control worked.

Great, sha99ed clutch in no time! Other than that no problems at all. Car is definitely quicker even at only 1.3bar with the extra advance I can run.

Andrew, glad to hear that its performing well. Shouldnt be long before i get mine now. Sorted a 3" system, so just need the injectors and turbo funds permitting.
