Question Difference between downpipes

Hi all

anyone know what the differences are between open neck and twin dump style downpipes please?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but search is not available.

Thanks

Sonu

An open neck DP encompasses the whole of the back of the turbo in one entry point, whereas a twin dump design pipe has an 2 pipes at the back of the turbo, one for the exit of the wastegate and the other for the exit from the turbine. These then join about 3-6 inches down the downpipe.

The latter is meant to be better as there will be less turbulence out of the back of the turbo. Personally I don't believe you'd notice any real difference performance wise.
