Default How to plumb in Dawes Device so SECS still works

Can some body explain to me how to plumb in the dawes device on a MY99 UK Turbo so the SECS meter still reads the correct boost.
I understand that as long as you don't raise the boost over the factory fuel cut (17 Psi on a MY99??) that the SECS will still read properly.

Dan,

So long as you don't interupt the signal cable from the MAP sensor then the secs will read the boost that the ECU actually senses.

The only time that this will differ and read incorrectly is if you have installed an FCD (fuel cut defender) or of course if there is some kind of bleed off to the MAP sensor (all be it a leak in the pipework, or a pneumatic FCD).

So if you put the dawes from the turbo outlet nipple to actuator then the SECS will read correctly.

Make sure you monitor fuelling and have a knocklink.

Cheers

Iain

SECS will read to 18.4 PSI and then clip but the ECU will read up to 25 PSI.

Fuel cut is about 17.6 PSI so if you use an FCD the highest you will see will be below this - depending on how the FCD is setup.

You are very unlikely to run out of fuel on the TD04 if you have a healthy MAF in an non-MAF voltage squashing intake.

Ignition advance may be excessive, but some octane booster or methanol could sort that out.

Thanks JB

The Dawes is just going on the car for me to have a play with till the TEK3 get done. Im not going to play with FCD's im gonna leave that for the mappers to do when the tek gets done.
