MY95 WRX, Magnex DP, center and backbox, K&N Induction.

I have just had a quick glimpse of the check engine light on my WRX. The car had been started from cold and had been running for a couple of mins when the light came on for a couple of seconds...... I slowed the car, the light went off and I carried of as normal, the car is boosting as it should be and all feels ok. The light was only on for about two/three seconds........could it be that some water from the rain made a short circut and tripped the light?

I have run the car for 50 miles since, no sign of the light, no drop in performance, the car appears to be running as it should be....

Should I forget about it and wait to see if the little git shows up again?

OR

Should I take the car to be checked asap?

Cheers

Paul

Why not check why the light came on? There's a web site somewhere which tells you how to get the read-out and what the codes mean. Unfortunately I can never remember the url, but I'm sure it will come up on a search for ecu codes or similar. Mine does the same from time-to-time with an ignition switch fault code which is probably a loose connection somewhere but I can't find it.

Ahhh, this could be it, my vent covers are in place, however, I had just driven through a large puddle, chances are that some water was pushed up the pip that drives air into the induction cone.........maybe

Is there anyone local to me who would give me a hand to find the ECU code wires etc?

Cheers

You mentiont hat you have a K&N fitted? Have you got the bonnet vent covers in place? If not it's probably a drop of water on your cone.

Ok, I have seen the light three times now.

Each time, the car has been started from cold, the light appears after a few mins, when first gental use of the turbo is made.

Idle speed seems to drop right down when the clutch is depressed, but a small blip of the throttle returns the idle to normal and gets rid of the light.........

The engine runs perfectly, spools up as normal, goes like a rocket, this little 'glitch' has me somewhat concerned.....

MAF?

What do you all think?

Cheers

Paul

Red face

Mine has done the same thing, seems to be in exactly the same place on the way to work.

3 times it has come on for about 2-3 seconds then all fine. I think I'm due a service - plugs, etc.

MY95, UK standard with an STi exhaust. no bonnet vent covers.
