Back Boxes - 2 simple questions
#2
Hi,
There's no cat in the back box, there is one in each of the downpipe and mid section on standard cars.
Most people seem to go Scoobysport or Magnex for the back box, I have an STi one on mine (as comes on a P1). It's a little louder but doesn't do much for performance. Others to consider might be the Prodrive WR one or Power Engineering's one?
I'm sure you'll get lots more advice.
Simon.

Zak,
1) No, the cats are in the centre section and in the downpipe.
2) A backbox will not free up a great deal of power. If you want to free up some power, then you will need to look at the centre and/or the downpipe being changed.
Personally I'd say select a backbox on whether you like the noise the or not! At least it's an excuse to got to more meets!

Hiya Zak,
I gotta agree with Andy. Downpipe and Centre section to release a bit more oomph
Back box V.personal. I don't think that I have ever heard a rubbish one
Go do the meet thing and listen. Try not to be fished in by the designer labels i.e if the sound isn't for you, Don't buy it.
If I had the knowledge and equipment, i'd make me own. Reckon I'd call it Gridlocks' Growler
Anyways, have fun finding what you want

OK so if the back boxes power increase is minimal then can anyone suggest another way of boosting the power without replacing the whole exhaust system?
The mods I have done tend to be less noticeable from the outside (my own style/choice). SO far I've had the anti lift kit put in, anti-roll bars and links, brake support brackets and a ram pod air filter. Any advice/suggestions on other upgrades?
Also while I'm here, what are the pros and cons of getting a dump valve fitted? I've heard form a few people that it has cracked surrounding areas of the engine!!! Does it do "exactly what it says on the tim" and does it have that cool hissing sound?
